Date the rule before checking an account interface

The Commission extended the second implementation phase to 30 September 2026. On 22 September, a reader should not assert that every operator's interface has already changed. The update concerns how gross deposit limits are offered and named, not a universal promise that a chosen limit will eliminate losses.

The Commission says that from 30 September operators must offer gross deposit limits, name only those limits 'deposit limits,' and give them at least equal prominence to other financial limits. The public source establishes this starting point; its date and scope belong beside the specific decision in the financial-limit settings card.

Define gross money entering the account

A gross deposit limit counts deposits over its period without subtracting withdrawals. Write a simple example with separate deposit and withdrawal columns before setting a number. Illustrate gross deposits with three £20 top-ups in one defined period: £60 has entered even if a £30 withdrawal follows. Keep the withdrawal in its own column.

A net-spend or loss limit answers a different question and must not be silently relabelled. A net-spend or loss control may be useful too, but it answers a different question. Check exactly which type the operator labels 'deposit limit.'

Check fixed versus rolling periods

The update clarifies that gross deposit limits use fixed time frames under the new requirements. Read the reset day, timezone and account display before relying on a weekly or monthly figure. Find the fixed period and reset time in the account's current explanation. A weekly limit might restart on a named day, not seven days after each payment.

Do not assume a rolling 24-hour or seven-day window from the word 'daily' or 'weekly' alone. Write the timezone when it affects the boundary. A reader near midnight should not assume a displayed remaining amount belongs to tomorrow's period.

Compare prominence without assuming effect

An accessible control is easier to find, but a value still needs to fit a real budget. Find where gross deposit, loss and time controls appear in the authenticated account and record their labels. Locate gross-deposit and other financial controls without making a payment. Record how clearly the account distinguishes them and what amount is presently set.

A prominently displayed option does not make gambling affordable for someone facing essential bills. Prominence is a usability requirement, not a recommendation to choose the highest available value. Start from money remaining after essential commitments.

Test a decrease and an increase separately

Operators may apply changes to restrictive and permissive limits on different schedules. Read the current terms and confirmation message for the effective time of each change. Save confirmation messages for a decrease and, if relevant, the published delay for a requested increase. The two actions may not take effect alike.

Do not attempt to raise a limit to chase a prior loss or bypass another account barrier. A limit increase driven by a recent loss defeats the purpose of a boundary. Use a cooling-off period and a separate budget review instead.

Layer the limit with non-account boundaries

A deposit ceiling does not address borrowed funds, time spent or access through other services. Use a bank budget, independent alarm and exclusion or blocking option when appropriate. Bank-level restrictions, independent alarms and exclusion can close gaps that one account setting leaves open. Note each control's activation and removal rules.

A zero discretionary budget is a valid outcome even when the interface permits deposits. A gross deposit ceiling does not prevent borrowed money, time overrun or access elsewhere. Zero available entertainment spend is a valid limit.

Read the Commission's implementation update precisely

The official notice supplies the effective date, required name, prominence and time-frame distinction. Reopen the named HTTPS page when applying the financial-limit settings card; an internal SignalBet guide is context, not the authority for a changing fact.

It is GB regulatory context, not proof of SignalBet availability, legal status or a specific account's limit implementation. Do not extend that source into a conclusion about an individual case it does not cover.

Set a real-world boundary before using the control

The account setting should reflect money available after necessities, with a dated note of its actual activation. Recheck the disputed item in the financial-limit settings card before a consequential action and retain the dated answer.

Before setting any control, draft a budget outside the gambling interface: essential payments, savings commitments and genuinely disposable entertainment money. Then read the account's definition of a gross deposit, its fixed period and reset time. If a £20 deposit is followed by a withdrawal, the earlier deposit remains part of that period's gross inflow; do not assume a withdrawal restores the same allowance. Take a dated screenshot of the chosen value and the activation confirmation. If a requested increase is delayed, treat the delay as an opportunity to reassess rather than a problem to evade. The Commission's 30 September requirement is a regulatory date, not evidence that every interface already complies on 22 September. A bank-level barrier or time-out may be more appropriate when spending is causing harm.

  • Three £20 deposits remain £60 gross even after a £30 withdrawal.
  • A fixed weekly period requires a known reset day and timezone.
  • A visible limit control cannot make unaffordable spending safe.
  • A decrease and increase may have different effective times under current terms.
  • Bank controls and time-outs cover risks a deposit ceiling alone does not.

Adults 18+ should not borrow, chase losses or substitute a limit for help when gambling feels hard to control. Adults 18+ must also meet local legal-age rules. Gambling is optional entertainment, not income or debt recovery. Protect essential money, set time and spending limits, never borrow or chase losses, and use the responsible-play centre for a break, blocking, exclusion or support.
