Treat an unexpected balance as untrusted display data

Anyone can send many tokens to a public Ethereum address, and a wallet can display a symbol, image or apparent value supplied by untrusted metadata. That appearance does not prove the token is authentic, redeemable or safe to interact with. Spam assets often try to move the user toward a claim website, approval signature or support contact. The safer response is quarantine: do not click, swap, approve, transfer or visit the advertised destination. Record the contract and inbound transaction as public evidence, then hide the asset through the wallet's local display controls if available.

Ethereum.org's security material emphasizes protecting recovery phrases, verifying transactions, distrusting unsolicited contact and understanding approvals. It cannot classify every token contract. Quarantine is therefore a behaviour rule, not a technical verdict that the token is malicious. The rule is especially important before a gaming payment because a crowded wallet can cause the wrong asset or contract to be selected. The receiving service's instruction must identify the exact supported asset and network independently.

Record the contract instead of the marketing symbol

A token labelled USDC is not Circle-issued USDC merely because the wallet shows the familiar letters and icon. That example matters because the contract address and chain are the identifiers needed for any careful comparison.

Token names and symbols are not unique, and a spam contract can copy the branding of a known asset. Open the inbound transaction in a reputable explorer and note the chain, contract, sender, amount and arrival time without visiting token links. The working note should contain chain, contract address, transaction hash, sender, amount and timestamp. Do not add the asset to a payment screen based only on its symbol.

Avoid the claim and support routes embedded in metadata

Start with the narrow fact: Spam assets can place a website, phone number or message in their name, image or description. A domain printed inside a token name remains unsolicited even when it uses words such as support, refund or reward.

Those routes are controlled by the promoter and may be designed to collect signatures or recovery material. Ignore embedded destinations and research only through independently verified issuer or wallet documentation when classification is necessary. Preserve displayed claim, independent official source, mismatch and research date and apply this stop rule: Never connect the wallet or enter a phrase to remove an asset.

Read every signature request as a separate authorization

Cancel unexpected prompts, decode the requested action with trusted tools and approve only an independently intended transaction. This is necessary because a website may describe a harmless verification while the wallet presents a token approval, permit or contract call.

Readable branding cannot substitute for checking spender, asset, amount, network and expiry. For example, an unlimited approval to an unfamiliar spender is not needed merely to hide a spam token from the wallet interface. Note requested method, spender, token, allowance, deadline, network and cancellation. Reject any signature whose effect cannot be explained before approval.

Review existing allowances after accidental interaction

Visiting a site alone, connecting an address and signing a transaction create different levels of exposure. The response should match what actually occurred instead of assuming either no risk or total compromise.

From a clean route, review transaction history and token allowances, revoke suspicious permissions and move valuable assets only with qualified guidance when keys may be exposed. Keep visited URL, connection, signed hash, spender, revoked allowance and follow-up. A rejected signature usually differs from a confirmed approval, while typing a recovery phrase into a page should be treated as severe key exposure. Do not send additional transactions to the suspected attacker as a test.

Keep the payment wallet deliberately sparse

Separating a limited payment balance reduces both operational mistakes and the impact of a compromised interaction. The evidence behind that conclusion is limited and specific: A wallet holding many experimental tokens, approvals and decentralized applications increases selection and signing complexity.

A clean wallet makes it easier to compare the authenticated cashier instruction with the exact asset selected for transfer. A practical response is to use a purpose-bounded wallet where lawful, retain only the intended asset and fee token, and reconcile it after each payment. Record wallet purpose, supported asset, fee balance, active allowances and reconciliation date. Do not use wallet separation to evade identity, self-exclusion, tax or reporting obligations.

Use Ethereum.org as the protective behaviour guide

Ethereum.org advises users to keep recovery phrases private, verify transactions, use trusted applications, understand approvals and recognize common scam patterns. These controls support a quarantine approach because an unsolicited token should not be allowed to choose the website, contract interaction or support conversation that follows. Verification begins outside the asset's own metadata.

The page does not maintain a definitive list of safe or malicious tokens and cannot restore assets after an unsafe signature. Hiding a token is a local display action, not a blockchain deletion. If a phrase or private key was exposed, seek qualified incident help and avoid announcing the compromised wallet publicly. The source does not prove that any asset or network is supported by SignalBet.

End with no interaction and a cleaner wallet record

A quarantined token has its chain, contract and inbound hash recorded; its embedded links remain unopened; no approval, transfer or claim signature is issued; the display is hidden locally if desired; and existing allowances are reviewed only through trusted routes. The payment wallet is reconciled against official asset documentation and the authenticated receiving instruction. Unknown tokens stay outside all balance and deposit calculations.

An apparent free token is not entertainment money and should never justify a larger wager. SignalBet is for adults 18+ only where lawful. Use a fixed disposable-money limit, keep essential holdings in separate secure custody and stop when curiosity, fear or urgency is driving wallet interaction. Responsible play includes declining a payment route that cannot be verified.

SignalBet Guide keeps related context in the responsible-play centre, the editorial policy and the guide library. These internal pages explain limits, corrections and source handling; they do not replace the current external source or local legal advice.
